Job Summary

The Executive Director, Student Communications & Transition Programs directs and supports enrollment communications, project management for the Enrollment Management unit, and the transition of students from prospect to graduate.

Duties

  • Supervises staff who produce social media, web design, digital, and print communications and who manage enrollment events, the Customer Relation Management (CRM) system, and testing services
  • Assists with obtaining annual enrollment growth and meeting established goals
  • Assists in directing the communications related to the operation of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Establishes communication plans for designated populations to move the students through the admission funnel from visitor and/or inquiry to registered, paid students
  • Serves as the liaison to Marketing for the design, conceptualization, development, and production of print and electronic communications related to recruitment and enrollment
  • Creates, updates, and maintains the communication content flow for undergraduate and graduate student populations in partnering with deans and staff
  • Ensures consistent messaging across all populations and outside entities and develops strategies to incorporate communications to a diverse group of prospective and current students and their families
  • Supports the transition of new students through the first-year experience and continuing students through graduation; establishes and maintains working relations by implementing change management as appropriate
  • Manages communications with students that involves university policy and state laws
  • Serves on various committees related to enrollment and retention as required; manages special projects for the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Provost as required

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Change Management is preferred
  • Experience in Texas state laws is preferred

  • Assesses and modifies organizational unit's budget annually to provide sufficient resources for organizational unit's operations aligned with goals and objectives, in consideration of the university's budget constraints.
  • Directs administration of the organizational unit's budget to ensure effective utilization of financial resources and compliance with federal, State, and university policies and procedures.
  • Approves disbursement of funds consistent with the organizational unit's budget.
  • Monitors status of organizational unit's budget, and directs the resolution of deficiencies and/or discrepancies.

Organizational Engagement

  • Positively represents organizational unit to internal and external constituents in support of the organizational unit's efforts and in recognition of its accomplishments.
  • Coordinates with other university administrators to collaborate endeavors across organizational units.
  • Builds rapport with external constituents to advance the organizational unit's goals and objectives and engage the community with the university's efforts to address the needs and advance the development of the region.
  • Competently responds to audits and requests from governmental entities and UH-System on behalf of the organizational unit.
