Job Summary
The Executive Director of Human Resources supports the CHRO in providing strategic leadership and direction for several functional areas of Human Resources (HR), including total rewards, performance management, employee relations, and engagement to support the recruitment, retention, and motivation of a highly qualified and engaged workforce. This role is a key advisor to the CHRO and senior leadership in aligning HR strategies with the organization's long-term objectives.
Duties
- Lead cross-functional HR initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Participates in strategic planning and assessment in developing HR goals and initiatives; oversees budget for assigned areas.
- Directs operations of assigned areas, manages, and develops goals, objectives, and priorities for designated areas, and ensures efficient and compliant HR operations.
- Foster a positive workplace culture through employee engagement strategies and conflict resolution
- Develops, maintains, and enforces HR policies and procedures in alignment with legal and ethical standards
- Supports leaders and employees in navigating complex HR issues and fostering a positive work environment. Resolves complex issues of a multi-disciplinary nature regarding employee concerns, university policies, and employment law
- Provide leadership to the HR team, planning resources and priorities, developing skills and competencies that will enhance the capability and credibility of the team, and ensuring achievement of agreed outcomes and performance objectives

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related job experience in human resources. Experience in a leadership role.
License/Certification
- None Required

- SHRM-CP or PHR
- Master's degree
- Experience in a leadership role

Financial Administration
- Assesses and modifies the organizational unit's budget annually to provide sufficient resources for the organizational unit's operations aligned with goals and objectives, in consideration of the university's budget constraints.
- Directs administration of the organizational unit's budget to ensure effective utilization of financial resources and compliance with federal, State, and university policies and procedures.
- Approves disbursement of funds consistent with the organizational unit's budget.
- Monitors the status of the organizational unit's budget and directs the resolution of deficiencies and/or discrepancies.
Organization Engagement
- Positively represents the organizational unit to internal and external constituents in support of the organizational unit's efforts and in recognition of its accomplishments.
- Coordinates with other university administrators to collaborate endeavors across organizational units.
- Builds rapport with external constituents to advance the organizational unit's goals and objectives and engage the community with the university's efforts to address the needs and advance the development of the region.
- Competently responds to audits and requests from governmental entities and UH-System on behalf of the organizational unit.
