Job Summary
The Construction Project Manager manages, coordinates and administers construction projects with a specific timeframe and funding amount in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Duties
- Manages construction and renovation projects from concept to completion and assures the needs and priorities of the University are fully understood and integrated by all parties.
- Supervises the activities of subordinates, including project managers and outside consultants, to ensure compliance with established University standards and requirements/guidelines and contract requirements. Coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provides guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of construction projects.
- Prepares project budgets and facilitates the processing of construction consultant proposals. Maintains responsibility for procurement, bidding, negotiating, construction and closeout as required to support the planning and construction phases of projects.
- Maintains and monitors project expenditures and schedules to ensure that the project stays within the approved budget and prescribed timeline. Prepares project reports and schedules as required and assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree

- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with university facilities operations or related functional areas
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of construction trades and practices, and the related trends and issues
- Knowledge of all applicable building codes
Skills:
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft.

Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:

Works in an office environment and in a demolition/construction environment.
Physical Demands:
- Will be routinely exposed to normal hazards of construction, demolition, and mechanical equipment. Work involves some exposure to elements, such as adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Position requires maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time, as well as for bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, jumping, climbing, and frequent reaching. Position has occasional exposure to the physical risks associated with demolition and construction. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, hazardous traffic conditions, and the risk of electric shock. May be exposed to vibration and construction and traffic noise. Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Must have the ability to move items of up to 75lbs. Employee will be on-call 24 hours a day to ensure routine operations of all campus events and to respond to emergency situations.
