Scope of Responsibilities
At UHD, Dr. Waller serves as the Associate Dean of the University College, where he coordinates and assesses the UC's transitional programs. Dr. Waller chairs the Advisory Committee for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and the First-Year Experience Committee. His responsibilities include assisting with ongoing curriculum development and course redesign efforts targeting barrier courses. He also assists with academic issues related to admissions standards and facilitates cross-departmental developmental education initiatives. Dr. Waller supervises the Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction. Dr. Waller also collects and communicates data relevant to freshman student success, as well as writes grant proposals.
Dr. Waller earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of Houston and Master of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degrees from the University of North Texas at Denton.
William Waller has extensive experience in higher education, with more than 30 years at UHD in various roles. Dr. Waller's experience includes Principal Author of UHD Quality Enhancement Plan, Assistant Chair for Instruction and Assistant Chair for Freshman Programs both in the Mathematical Sciences Department. He also currently serves as a Professor in the Mathematics and Statistics Department at UHD.
