Scope of Responsibilities
In his role at UHD, Mr. Bracken directs and maintains UHD’s Criminal Justice Training Center as it relates to Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and prepares cadets for the rigors of a law enforcement career.
Educational Qualifications
Mr. Bracken earned his Master of Science in Justice Administration from Norwich University and Bachelor of Arts in Government and Criminal Justice from Angelo State University. He also earned his Master Peace Officer License, Instructor Proficiency and Firearms Instructor Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as well as his Command Leadership Certification from the Texas Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining UHD, Mr. Bracken was a Lieutenant in the Midland College Police Department, serving as a Sergeant in the Midland Police Department for 16 years. He also worked as an Instructor in the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy and the Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy. Mr. Bracken's experiences in law enforcement and administration include strategic planning, shift command, program development, training coordination, policy-making, and reporting. He has more than 20 years of municipal, state and university law enforcement experience.
