Scope of Responsibilities

At UHD, Dr. Hovsepian is responsible for overseeing the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Program generally and specifically for program quality, advising and assessment. She represents the BS IS program and/or University College on three university-wide faculty committees. Dr. Hovsepian participates in recruiting and open house events on and off-campus both during and after usual business hours. She coordinates field experience/internships for the BS IS program and is instructor of record for six sections of ISS 4380 during the academic year (Fall, Spring and Summer 2). Additionally, she teaches three History courses over the academic year and four e-portfolio sections (Fall, Spring, Summer 1 and Summer 3).

Educational Qualifications

Dr. Hovsepian earned her Doctor of Philosophy in World History, Master of Arts in Ancient History and Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Houston.​

Professional Experience

Melissa Hovsepian has more than 22 years of higher education experience. Dr. Hovsepian has served as an Instructor, Adjunct Instructor, Visiting Assistant Professor, and Lecturer in History. Her affiliations include: Phi Alpha Theta, Association of Ancient Historians and the World History Association.
