Dr. Shengli Yuan holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas - Dallas. He started working at UHD as an assistant professor in 2004, was promoted to associate professor in 2010, then to full professor in 2016. His main research interests include computer network reliability and security, communication algorithms, optical and wireless networks. He has published many papers in referred journals and conference proceedings, as well as a book chapter. He is the PI and CO-PI of numerous NSF grants and grants from the state of Texas. Dr. Yuan has been teaching at UHD since 2004. He teaches a wide range course in Computer Sciences, including programming languages, data structures, algorithms, software engineering, computer networks, computer security, database system, and more. He supervises students on senior projects and field experience. He also served as the faculty mentor of the ACM chapter at UHD. He has served as the chair of the Computer Science Program Committee, and the chair of the Rank and Tenure Committee of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology. He is a senior member of IEEE.
