SACSCOC On‑Site Review March 2–5, 2026

What is Happening?

From March 2–5, 2026, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) On‑Site Review Team will visit our campus as part of the reaffirmation process. This visit ensures we meet rigorous standards for academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

The agenda includes:

  • Presentations on our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
  • In-depth discussions to examine core standards and our institutional compliance
  • Meetings with campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students
  • Facility tours, including regional and specialized sites

Campus Engagement

Our success depends on collaboration across the university. Planning began in September 2025, and multiple committees are working diligently:

Hospitality & Logistics Committee

Coordinates all culinary services (hotel, on-campus, local venues), transport, campus beautification, meeting spaces, and welcome packets.

IT Committee

Ensures technology readiness at both hotel and campus workrooms, with IT staff on-site throughout the review.

Welcome & Reception Committee

Organizes greeters at arrival points and campus entryways, alongside faculty/staff and student liaisons paired with reviewers to facilitate movement and engagement.

Evidence Committee

Secures and prepares essential documentation—enrollment figures, faculty credentials, library and research data, and other compliance materials.

Each committee is comprised of dedicated faculty, staff, and student representatives, collaborating closely since September under the oversight of Institutional Effectiveness.

Accreditation Hub

The Accreditation Hub serves as a centralized resource for all materials and documentation related to the University of Houston-Downtown’s (UHD) accreditation processes. It supports institutional transparency and continuous improvement by providing access to key reports, policies, and guidelines aligned with the standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Faculty Credential

Qualified, effective faculty members are essential to carrying out the mission of the institution and ensuring the quality and integrity of its academic programs. The tradition of shared governance within American higher education recognizes the importance of both faculty and administrative involvement in the approval of educational programs. Because student learning is central to the institution’s mission and educational degrees, the faculty is responsible for directing the learning enterprise, including overseeing and coordinating educational programs to ensure that each contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains discipline currency. Achievement of the institution’s mission with respect to teaching, research, and service requires a critical mass of qualified full-time faculty to provide direction and oversight of the academic programs. Due to this significant role, it is imperative that an effective system of evaluation be in place for all faculty members that addresses the institution’s obligations to foster intellectual freedom of faculty to teach, serve, research, and publish.

6.2a: For each of its educational programs, the institution justifies and documents the qualifications of its faculty members. (Faculty qualifications)
