Why Take an A+CE Course?

Students who participate in A+CE courses during their first two years at UHD develop 21st century skills in critical thinking while engaging with community issues related to their disciplines.

In addition, students participating in A+CE can become eligible to earn the Engaged Scholar badge.

Engaged Scholar Badge

The Engaged Scholar Badge is a digital badge that appears on your official UHD transcript. Digital badges signal to future employers or graduate schools the accomplishments and skills sets that you have obtained and demonstrated throughout your time as an undergraduate student.

The Engaged Scholar Badge will indicate that a student is a particularly skilled critical thinker and is able to problem solve in a real-world setting. In turn, students will be able to capitalize on this badge by providing example work or experience that support the badge.

Engaged Scholar Badge Requirements

  • Take a minimum of four A+CE courses during your first two years at UHD.
  • Earn "A" or "B" grades in at least three of those A+CE courses and no lower than a "C" in the fourth course
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
