UHD 78th Commencement Ceremony

Dear UHD Faculty:
Thank you to those who registered to attend UHD’s May 2025 Commencement exercises! We have over 100 faculty registered to attend. Here is what you need to know for the Saturday ceremony.
Parking Passes:
Parking passes are being delivered to departments this week. Please plan to pick yours up from the individuals below by 3pm on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025. These individuals have your pass in the college:
- MDCOB – Ruby LaCour-Tyler
- CHSS – Marlene Chavez
- CPS – Fernando Lanza
- CST – Akif Uzman
Please remember your parking pass on Saturday! We do not have enough passes to replace any lost or missing passes. Similarly, if you elect to pay for parking ($25 by credit card only), the University has not budgeted to reimburse you for that parking.
If you did not register to attend commencement, you may still attend, but you must have your own regalia and we do not have additional parking passes.
Arrival & Parking:
Parking entrance #3 will open at 6 a.m. and remain open all day.
- Please arrive in the robing room by 11:45am (allow plenty of time to navigate parking and entrance to the stadium through security; your arrival time will coincide with student and guest arrivals, so will be congested).
- Faculty and Staff use Parking Entrance #3 off Fannin (even though your parking pass says Gate 9! see map below).
- Park in the Blue Lot.
- After parking, go through the security screening located just outside the Phillips 66 entrance doors directly off the Blue Lot parking area.
- Enter the NRG Stadium and take the elevators to the field level concourse where the Champion’s Club is located. Please sign-in and proceed to the robing area and the reception held inside.
Robing:
Volunteers will be on hand for assistance on the 2nd floor of the NRG Stadium. Please bring your regalia.
Photography
Specific individuals will have their photos taken in the designated photography area. Grand and Associate Grand Marshals are scheduled to have their photos taken first to allow them time to move to the service level (floor level) behind the stage and in front of sections 125 and 126 where they will lead the student processional.
Processional:
- Faculty and platform party procession will begin promptly immediately after the student processional. Student processional begins at 1:00 p.m.
- Dr. Villegas will direct the Grand and Associate Grand Marshals, all seating marshals, and banner carriers. Dr. Quander will facilitate the organization of the faculty procession line and Branston Harris will guide the platform procession line.
After the Ceremony:
- Recess to the Robing Area to pack up your regalia and gather your things. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon/evening!
