Student success, the very reason UHD faculty and staff go to work every day, cannot come about without opportunities. Each Gator must be given the choice to pursue their interests and make a life for themselves, one that combines intellectual passion with an ability to earn a dignified living.

That said, a necessary precondition for such opportunities to exist is, in a word, access, and that’s exactly what the W.I. Dykes Library will provide with their new initiative, “Sundays at the Wellness & Success Center,” (WSC) to ensure students receive the support they need when the One Main Building (OMB) closes on Sundays.

Every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. between now and Dec. 7, Gators can go to WSC 116 and receive librarian assistance for any research needs, as well as access computers, printers, and dedicated study areas.

Lisa Braysen, Executive Director, Library Services, said this will ensure in-person, face-to-face support seven days a week. “While students have access to our resources online, being able to work with a librarian face-to-face provides them the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback," she said. "With so much information available, students need trusted partners to navigate what's reliable, relevant, and useful. We're the human connection that helps turn information into answers."

She also noted that the WSC has been a cooperative collaborator in this project, ensuring that students are as healthy academically as they are physically. As the partnership with the WSC develops, Braysen hopes to offer additional programming there in the form of workshops on plagiarism and its pitfalls, misinformation, and research skills.

Prioritizing such access ensures that every Gator has the support and opportunity required to meet their goals.
