Thanks to the generosity of university faculty and staff, the W.I. Dykes Library has expanded its collection of tools and technology designed to enhance student learning, collaboration, and academic success. Recently contributions from faculty and staff through the Give To Gators program were used to purchase a variety of resources that directly support student needs:
- 14 additional graphing calculators available for checkout, ensuring that more students have access to essential tools for completing homework and coursework in mathematics and science.
- 12 pairs of noise-cancelling headphones to help students focus while studying in shared or high-traffic areas of the library.
- 3 new wall-mounted whiteboards, allowing every individual study room to be equipped for collaboration, problem-solving, and group projects.
- 1 heavy-duty TV/LCD cart and mounted television, enabling library staff to deliver mobile programming, workshops, and presentations throughout campus.
“These purchases directly impact our students on a daily basis,” said Lisa Braysen, Executive Director of the Library. “By adding resources for both collaborative work and focused individual study, we're creating more flexible, supportive learning spaces."
The project was made possible through the continued support of faculty and staff donors who choose to give back to the university community each year. Give To Gators gifts underscore the collective commitment of the campus community to support student success.
“Faculty and staff gifts—no matter the size—directly impact our students,” said Sandra Jacobson, Associate Director of Annual Giving. “By investing their charitable gifts in UHD, our colleagues demonstrate their belief in the mission of our university and in the potential of our students. The Give To Gators Campaign runs through December 11th. If you’ve already given, THANK YOU! If you haven’t, there’s still time. Join the Campaign today.
