While data is more accessible than ever, the ability to interpret that data and transform it into effective action remains an elusive skill. In the modern workplace, a professional, especially someone in leadership, is often measured by the quality of their judgment under pressure. To ensure our students graduate with this essential ability, UHD is launching its latest micro-credential (MC) in Decision-Making.
This MC is one piece of UHD’s 2026 Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Beyond the Bayou: Transferable Skills for the 21st Century,” and, along with the other transferable skills—Technology, Communication, and Professionalism—the program will prepare Gator graduates to succeed in today’s workforce. Students can earn a digital badge for each, a few, or all of the skills by completing an online, self-paced course, to be made available through Canvas in 2026.
And what content will the course contain? How to evaluate evidence and options and make structured, sound decisions.
Students will progress though five modules that will equip them with unique competencies, like:
- Understand the decision-making process and recognize how it applies in personal, academic, and professional contexts.
- Use data and evidence to support sound decision-making.
- Identify and mitigate common cognitive biases and psychological traps.
- Recognize how social, cultural, and ethical factors shape decisions.
- Reflect on their own decision-making styles and growth as emerging professionals.
