Description
Covenant House Texas (CHT) is seeking an intern to work during summer semester 2013.
The internship is available to undergraduate students studying public relations or
journalism. The hours range from 10-15 hours a week. May not need to be at CHT all
the time – will be able to do writing assignments off campus. The internship is unpaid.
The intern will assist the Public Relations Specialist in all phases of the Development/Public Relations department to gain practical hands on experience in the following areas:
- Interviewing staff, clients and volunteers for internal and external newsletters
- Helping to develop an e-newsletter
- Assist with updating website
- Assist with on-line marketing efforts
- Helping with social media, including the CHT Facebook page
- Assisting with contacting organizations for Speaker’s Bureau
- Assist with Annual Report
- Updating media directory
- Monitoring media coverage
- Taking photographs
Intern may also be asked to participate in brainstorming sessions and client meetings when appropriate.
Required Experience
Candidate must have basic understanding of writing for newsletters, brochures and
press releases.
