Jacob Lipp

Paul Jacob Lipp​ develops relationships on behalf of the University of Houston-Downtown with individuals, corporations, and foundations that share his commitment to supporting the university’s students, faculty, staff, and community.

Since January 2022, Jacob has served as the Interim Executive Director of Advancement for the University of Houston-Downtown where he acts as the University’s chief development officer, to articulate fundraising priorities and generate funding in support of those priorities through relationship development and major gift solicitation. In this role, he also leads a team which is responsible for UHD’s advancement services, alumni relations, and all fundraising, including annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, special fundraising events, individual major gifts, and legacy giving.

Prior to taking on this interim assignment, Jacob served as the Director of Advancement at UHD, and was previously the university’s Director of Corporate Relations. In these capacities he was deeply involved, from concept to completion with UHD, Here We Go, a nationally-recognized fundraising campaign which raised $32.9 million, surpassing its $25 million goal. In 2018, he led the most successful capital construction fundraising campaign in UHD history, leading a division-wide effort to raise $1.6 million in support of the UHD College of Sciences and Technology Building. Starting in 2013, Jacob was heavily involved in soliciting feedback from more than 100 representatives of the Houston business community, which was utilized by faculty to successfully redesign the UHD MBA, helping it to become the largest in the city.

Before coming to UHD, Jacob served in Advancement roles at the University of Houston, and as Chief of Staff to then-State Representative Sylvester Turner.

In December 2021, Jacob joined his sister, becoming the third and fourth members of their family to earn degrees from UHD, when he received his Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management. He had previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. It was at Southwestern where Jacob met Amy with whom he will celebrate 20 years of marriage in 2022. Amy and Jacob have two teenaged sons, and are both active volunteers at Spring Woods High School, supporting both sons’ shared interests in theatre and baseball.

Jacob also volunteers with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Houston General Go Texan Committee, the Spring Branch ISD Bond Oversight Committee, and is involved with the Greater Houston Partnership’s Higher Education Committee, and the Central Houston Inc. Stakeholder Advisory Council.
