C.A.L.M.: Relax Your Mind & Body

Though we all experience stress at varying points in our lives, sometimes the intensity of the stressful emotions can lead to us feeling overwhelmed and anxious. As you're studying, working on homework and/or preparing for exams, now is the perfect opportunity to check-in with yourself and remind yourself that there are specific things you can do to shift in the moment to relax your mind and body. Ask yourself...How am I doing? How does my body feel? What thoughts are running through my head? What feels doable in the moment? Then, carve out a few minutes to reset and refocus your energy with some practical tips and exercises on how to calm down your nervous system, relax your mind/body and lower your stress levels in the moment. We encourage you to intentionally create C.A.L.M. moments throughout your day, as shared in the video.​

How to Manage Stress During Transition

 

As we focus on finishing up the Summer Semester, we know that endings always bring change, new opportunities, and new beginnings. It is normal to experience stress as a part of change, especially when dealing with “the unexpected”, but we must also honor our resilience as members of the UHD community. We think it’s safe to say that the transition to a new Fall 2020 semester feels like no other. So, just remind yourself about the transitions and challenges you have already successfully navigated this past year alone. It is our HOPE that you will find these suggestions helpful as we navigate this transition TOGETHER.
