Student Behavior and Resource Action Chart

The University of Houston - Downtown is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe and civil environment for the teaching, learning, and administrative processes.

The UHD Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy defines disruption as obstructing or interfering with University functions or any University activity; including disturbing the peace and good order of the University by, among other things; fighting, quarreling, excessive noise, or any behavior that causes or threatens to cause a material disruption to the residential, business or academic functions of the University, including but not limited to, a material disruption by the use of all types of cameras, electronic tablets, cell phones, and/or communication devices.

In addition, disruptive classroom conduct means engaging in behavior that substantially or repeatedly interrupts either the instructor's ability to teach or student learning. The classroom extends to any setting where a student is engaged in work toward academic credit or satisfaction with program-based requirements or related activities. Moreover, any disruption can include any behavior that interferes with students, faculty, or staff and their access to an appropriate educational or work environment.

The Student Behavior Response Chart and the Student Resources and Rights Guide provide a list of resources and possible observed behavior responses to a student's behavior that you can report and refer a student toward to make sure that the student gets the assistance that they need. Please reach out to the Dean of Students Office at 713-221-8100 or uhdstudentaffairs@uhd.edu for questions.
