Biography

Dr Farris has a Ph.D. in English from Miami University, where she had a double major in Rhetoric and Composition and American literature. She came to UHD in 1992 with about six years' experience in teaching Composition with some American Studies.

Dr Farris has a Ph.D. in English from Miami University, where she had a double major in Rhetoric and Composition and American literature. She came to UHD in 1992 with about six years' experience in teaching Composition with some American Studies. She has graduate course work in both Composition and American literature and over twenty years' experience at UHD. She's published in both Composition and literature. During her time at UHD, she has focused on Developmental Writing and Reading, and the freshman experience generally. She's served on the First-Year Experience committee and worked, three different times, as the Director of Composition. She participated in university-wide trainings for the freshman seminars and the content of her seminar Reading the American History of Now, falls within the scope of her expertise, as it is a reading and writing intensive introduction to American culture through an interdisciplinary lens.
