Biography

Professor Sen has been teaching at UHD for the past 4 years. He teaches both face-to-face and online classes and he is a UHD Certified Online Instructor. His areas of expertise include Physical Science and Earth and Environmental Sciences with emphasis on the interpretation of the origin and distribution of sedimentary rocks in terms of the physico-chemical and biological processes that led to their formation.

He has held senior management positions domestically and internationally, in the energy industry and worked in senior geologist capacities ranging from regional exploration to close-in development teams in prolific offshore and onshore geologic basins in clastic and carbonate reservoirs. He has a strong track record in technical leadership resulting in the discovery of gross onshore reserves of greater than 200 million barrels of oil equivalent. He has traveled to over 60 countries and speaks 5 languages and brings a wealth of life lessons, extensive management of geological/geophysical teams, a passion for teaching and love for his students as well as varied experiences to his classes.

Professor Sen is a member of the AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists), APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers, Geoscientists of Alberta), AIPN (Association of International Petroleum Negotiators), SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers).

He has served on the corporate acquisition team which transacted the "Deal of the Year" worldwide in 2000 for the oil and gas industry (Anadarko Petroleum's $6+ billion acquisition of Union Pacific Resources).

As President, Chief Operating Officer of an energy company, he successfully negotiated the competitively-bid capture of oil and gas deals worldwide (Argentina example: Oil and Gas Financial Journal, Dec. 2006).
