Biography

Her work has been published in such journals as Ploughshares, The American Voice, Gulf Coast, and, the online journal of The Poetry Foundation, as well as in the anthologies We Begin Here: Poems for Palestine and Lebanon (Interlink Books), Encountering Disgrace:Reading and Teaching Coetzee's Novel (Camden House), Still Seeking and Attitude: Critical Reflections on the Work of June Jordan (Lexington Books) Unwinding the Vietnam War (Real Comet Press) and Close to the Bone: Memoirs of Hurt, Rage, and Desire (Grove Press).

Experience Qualifications

Summary of Qualifications:Dr. Creighton is a tenured Professor of English at UHD. She has a Ph.D. in American Literature, an MA in Creative Writing, and has had over thirty years of teaching literature and writing at all levels, with the past two decades spent in university teaching. Her publication and research make her well qualified to teach Creative Writing, Creative Nonfiction, Mexican American Literature, Multiethnic American Literature, Contemporary Literature, and the Literature of War and Its Aftermath. She is a recipient of the University of Houston-Downtown's Excellence in Teaching Award, a University Funded Faculty Development Leave, and a Fulbright Fellowship to teach American Literature at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.
