FaST Fellow, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, 2007. Taught two undergraduate students how to conduct research over a ten-week duration. These two students were not engineering students where the research was fundamental work on porous media flow. This project involved teaching them how the scientific method is applied to empirical studies, teaching them fluid mechanics, and conducting research on an ultrafiltration process applied to radioactive waste. The nature of the research was developing friction factors appropriate to a cross-flow ultrafiltration process.

Managed an environmental seminar series for the department while a graduate student at Tulane, which included presenting lectures on the applications of statistics to environmental systems.

Research Faculty; Colorado School of Mines, Engineering Division; 1998 -1999. Worked on a project to determine the environment within abandoned uranium mines used as bat habitats. This work included the design of an ultra-low flow air meter to monitor flow velocities on the order of .01 feet per second or less.

Teaching Assistant; Colorado School of Mines, Engineering Division; 1998. Worked as a TA for a multidisciplinary engineering laboratory, which is essentially a mechatronics laboratory. Mechatronics is the application of engineering and computer principles to a mechanical system. This laboratory included determining the strain on cantilever beams using strain gauges, designing various filters, and the use of LabView. LabView is a data acquisition system.

Research Assistant; University of New Orleans, Civil Engineering; 1995 - 1996. Worked on a project to assess the impacts of PM10 on the shipbuilding industry. This work included air monitoring at Avondale Shipyards.
