Dr. Daniel Perez Liston

Biography

Dr. Daniel Perez Liston is an assistant professor of finance at the University of Houston-Downtown. Perez was a tenured, associate professor of finance at the University of St. Thomas-Houston prior to joining UHD. Much of Perez's research focuses on how socially responsible investing influences both the price and volatility of publicly traded shares. Perez also conducts research in international finance, specifically portfolio flows to emerging markets. Furthermore, Perez's research also examines how investor sentiment can influence stock market behavior.

His research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, such as Managerial Finance, Global Business and Finance Review, Banking and Finance Review and the North American Journal of Finance and Banking Research. He has also presented his work at various national conferences such as the Financial Management Association, Midwest Finance Association, Academy of Behavioral Finance and Economics, Academy of Economics and Finance, Academy of Financial Services, and Southwestern Finance Association Meetings. Dr. Perez regularly appears in the local and national media to discuss topics in finance and economics. He has appeared on Univision, Telemundo, Fox news, and local radio stations.

He received a Ph.D. in finance in 2011, in addition to a bachelor's degree in finance and master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. He teaches regularly at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
