Dr. Cathy Liu is a professor of accounting at University of Houston-Downtown, Marilyn Davies College of Business. She teaches courses in managerial accounting, financial accounting and auditing. She was awarded as UHD Teaching Fellow multiple times and was identified as "one of the people at UHD who has made the most significant positive contribution to their education" by a Senior Survey. She is an active scholar in the field of accounting, with over 20 years of experience in teaching, research and services. Her primary research areas include capital markets, earning management, environmental, social & governance and financial reporting. She has published in many academic journals including Journal of Business, Finance and Accounting, China Accounting & Finance Review, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance and International Journal of Business Analytics. Her research projects received international and federal grants. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and other events. In her current role as a chairperson, she oversees the operations and academic programs of the department and leads the efforts to advancing equal educational opportunity for all qualified learners under the mission and vision of UHD.
