Dr. Candace TenBrink
Associate ProfessorManagement and Insurance & Risk ManagementBiography
Discipline: Strategy - Management
Candace M. TenBrink Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston-Downtown. Her teaching emphasizes a blend of experiential learning with traditional hybrid methods. She has lead several teaching circles that focus on increasing student learning. While she teaches a wide range of course, she has an affinity for any course that involves dynamic learning and a range of possible solutions (rather than a definitive answer).
Her research interests include the strategic aspects of turnarounds, life cycle issues, and entrepreneurship. She will be teaching entrepreneurship next year in addition to leading a student group to Slovenia and Austria as they study innovation and growth.
She advises technology-based entrepreneurs on strategy related issues and sits on several local boards. Her non-profit involvement ranges from leading academic groups at a local middle school to politics to actively pursuing philanthropy with the National Charity League. Prior to entering academia, she was the founder and managing partner of a film production firm in NY. Her background also includes supply chain management and investment banking in the semiconductor equipment industry.
