The Minority Male Recruitment Department partners with middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and community agencies to create pathways into UHD for an increased number of men from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds. The department also collaborates with UHD’s student support system to develop initiatives that increase the retention and graduation of these groups.

Men of Color Greater Houston Area Collegiate Symposium

The Men of Color Greater Houston Area Collegiate Symposium is an event that collaborates with schools, community colleges, and agencies to promote leadership development, collegiate access, professional etiquette and cultural identity awareness for males of color. San Jacinto College and Houston Community College are partners in hosting this event.

Overcoming Challenges and Creating Opportunity for African-American Male Students - Newly Published Book Chapter - J. Wallace V. Robertson

Drs. Jerry Wallace and Vida Robertson recently completed a chapter in the newly released book, “Overcoming Challenges and Creating Opportunity for African-American Male Students”, (editors) Jennifer T. Butcher, Ph.D., (Education and Behavioral Science, Houston Baptist University), Johnny R. O’Connor, Jr., (Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership, Lamar University), and Freddie Titus, Ph.D., (Assistant Professor, Education and Human Development, Lamar University), published by IGI Global. This book has been recently added to the University of Houston-Downtown Library collection.
