Job SummaryThe Payroll Specialist assists with all tasks that are required to process payroll for university employees.
Duties- Provides assistance to employees with payroll questions regarding earnings, deductions and leave taken
- Assist departments with approving employee's electronic timesheets and leave requests
- Troubleshoots issues or problems in payroll
- Serves as a liaison between the System Payroll office and the university
- Identifies and corrects all payroll discrepancies
- Audits electronic Personnel Action Request (eP AR's) information
- Enters payroll information in the system
- Calculates earnings for terminating vacation, data entry of contributions and withdrawals to the sick leave pool
- Creates and updates job codes and position numbers
- Processes other payroll records and approves changes made in the system by employees
- Process verification of employment from external sources
- Audits documents scanned
- Provides customer service to customers
- Submit notices to departments to generate payroll reports
- Provides clerical support to the head of the payroll unit

QualificationsRequired Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Required Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related job experience
License/Certification:

- Knowledge of basic payroll processes and protocols
Skills:
- Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer care skills;
- Good problem solving skills
