Job Summary

The Manager of Print Communications serves as editor of the university magazine and as senior writer and editor for both the university e-newsletters, special projects, internal and external communications, updates regarding philanthropic efforts for Advancement & University Relations, and various other marketing collateral.

Duties

  • Writes and edits content for the university publications, including, but not limited to, the universities news, alumni connect, and gator update, conducting research and interviews as necessary
  • Contributes special content for the university's social media platforms
  • Assists with communications such as letters, articles, and special projects
  • Manages the production of the university's magazine, coordinating the publication's photos, organizing and writing content, and serving as liaison with external vendors such as the graphic designer and printer
  • Staffs special events related to University Relations, including, but not limited to, town hall meetings, gator grit, and commencement
  • Works with the UHD Marketing to coordinate print materials such as brochures, flyers, ads, advertorials, and other content.
  • Works closely with the Manager of Annual Giving to create and edit content for special outreach, regarding philanthropic and development efforts, to friends and donors of the University, as well as to alumni, students, faculty, and staff
  • Disseminates emergency and executive communications as required
  • Creates content for Alumni profiles for internal and external publications and media exposure, researching prospective subjects as necessary
  • Builds on-campus relationships between University Relations and faculty, staff, and students to generate content for university publications

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience

License/Certification:

  • None

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing internal or external communications for an organization or institution is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of basic office software, including MS Office and SmartSheets
  • Knowledge of Meltwater media monitoring platform, social media platforms, and PressPage content management system;
  • Knowledge of AP style

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; strong project management skills; excellent problem solving and decision making skills; research skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize; ability to use independent judgement to make strategic decisions;
