Upward Bound's 2017 Field Trip
Dawana M. Lewis, Director

Upward Bound, established in 1965 as the first of the TRIO programs, began serving low income and first-generation college bound HISD students at the University of Houston-Downtown in 1980. This highly successful college based program includes rigorous academic instruction, tutoring, mentoring, counseling and cultural enrichment activities. Over the years, hundreds of Upward Bound students have gone on to attend colleges and universities throughout the nation, fulfilling their dreams and becoming the first in their families to attend college.
