What is Freshman Convocation?
Freshman Convocation introduces new students to the University of Houston-Downtown. Typically held before classes begin, Freshman Convocation offers a series of activities designed to introduce new students to programs, resources, and services students should be aware of to begin their academic careers at UHD. "All first-year, first-time students entering UHD in the fall are required to attend."
Freshman Convocation marks the beginning of your academic journey towards graduation. It provides what you need to know to achieve your personal, academic, and professional goals. Let us welcome and guide you through that journey. Convocation also includes a small group session with an instructor or faculty member during which students discuss the Common Reader, American Like Me, and share their own experiences about living between cultures.
