Staff Probation - Employee Process Guide

Evaluation Process

Step 1

HR Talent Management assigns a Performance Evaluation to Staff Employee in My TalentSpace

Step 2

Staff Employee completes self-evaluation in My TalentSpace

Step 3

Supervisor completes employee evaluation in My TalentSpace and reviews employee's self-evaluation

Step 4

Evaluation forwarded to appropriate levels for approval

Step 5

HR Talent Management reviews evaluation

Step 6

Supervisor meets with Employee to discuss evaluation

Step 7

Supervisor recommends continued employment or termination of employee and signs evaluation

Step 8

Employee continues employment or probationary dismissal from employment is initiated

Probationary Staff Performance Evaluations are conducted 2 months prior to end of the employee's probation.

Probationary period is 12 months for exempt employees and 6 months for non-exempt employees.


Probationary Dismissal From Employment

Step 1

Supervisor completes Notice of Probationary Dismissal From Employment Form and forwards to Department Head

Step 2

Department Head reviews and approves Probationary Dismissal and forwards to appropriate Vice President

Step 3

Appropriate Vice President reviews and approves Probationary Dismissal and forwards to Vice President, HR

Step 4

Vice President, HR reviews and approves Probationary Dismissal and returns form to Immediate Supervisor

Step 5

Supervisor and Vice President, HR notify Employee of dismissal and date and time of termination

Step 6

HR initiates PeopleSoft ePAR to terminate Employee

Step 7

ePAR forwarded to appropriate levels for approval

Step 8

ePAR executed to terminate Employee

Step 9

HR Benefits coordinates employee separation procedures with Employee

Supervisor will be informed of unapproved actions.
