Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarships

The Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarships for 2024-25 is open from January 5th through May 31st. Applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee in April 2024, and decisions will be communicated in May and June 2024. To complete and submit your application, fill out UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business 2024-25 Scholarship Online Application. Students will need to log in using UHD network username and password.

The application only needs to be submitted once per academic year (Fall/Spring/Summer). Your cumulative GPA, declared major(s), attempted/passed hours, and financial aid information is automatically updated for you throughout the academic year. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you enter your gatormail address correctly in the application, as this is the unique identifier we will use to gather your student data.

Scholarships are awarded to students in every major and every classification and are usually awarded based on merit or financial need, or a combination of both. International students are encouraged to apply as well. We recommend you review our available Scholarships along with the corresponding criteria before you apply. Once you submit an application, you will be considered for EVERY scholarship for which you qualify.

Items you need to prepare ahead of time to upload to your application (preferably in PDF format):

  • Personal statement (500 words or less) of "why should you be considered for a scholarship?"
  • Completed Program Guide for your primary major.

    • for the classes you have already completed, enter the grade received
    • for the classes you have yet to complete, enter the term in which you plan to take the course (this is not binding - we want to have an idea of your intended progress to degree)

AMY RICH BUCK SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Preference for an undergraduate student who is working full-time and pursuing a degree in the Marilyn Davies College of Business
  • Student must be enrolled in a minimum of six hours
  • Scholarship applicant must have a minimum of 3.00 GPA
  • Scholarship recipient can receive the award and may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Amy Rich Buck Scholarship
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

DR. ASGHAR NAZEMZADEH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Scholarship prospect must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA accompanying the application.
  • Scholarship applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester credit hours at UHD.
  • Scholarship recipient must have a 3.5 GPA or greater in accordance with the standards set by the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship recipient may receive the award more than once and may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Dr. Asghar Nazemzadeh Memorial Scholarship.
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

TED BAUER UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

  • The UHD Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship is a competitive scholarship that offers 35 student recipients up to $9,000 per year ($4,500 per semester) for two years.
  • Qualified students must enter the final four semesters of their studies in the Marilyn Davies College of Business
  • and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.

BOBBY BIZZELL MEMORIAL

The Marilyn Davies College of Business is offering scholarship funding for students in the Marilyn Davies College of Business of no less than $1,000 per year for students with:

  • GPA no less than 3.0 or demonstrated financial need.
  • The recipient(s) of the scholarship will be determined by the University of Houston-Downtown Scholarship Selection Committee.

THE CHARLES SAUNDERS, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

  • Scholarship prospect exhibits qualities of an entrepreneur as determined by the Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship applicant should be a declared major in the Marilyn Davies College of Business
  • Scholarship applicant must be certified full-time undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA in accordance with the standards set by the Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Charles Saunders Sr. Memorial Scholarship Committee.
  • Funds may be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

DEAN'S EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

The Dean's Excellence Scholarship is a GPA COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIP for admitted undergraduate business and transfer students.

  • Qualified students are those who have a current FAFSA or TASFA on file with the University
  • and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • need 48-60 credit hours to graduate (typically classified as a Junior)

DELOITTE FOUNDATION - LARRY G. JONES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time (12 SCH or more) in the Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Majoring in Accounting (or working towards a professional certification in Accounting).
  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.25
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester.

DONALD BONHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Merit based.
  • Have a 2.75 GPA or above.
  • Have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours at UHD and a maximum of 96 credit hours.
  • Be a declared major or intended major in the College of Business.
  • The scholarship shall be awarded as two scholarships at $1,000 per year with $500 awarded for the Fall and Spring semesters.

DUANGPLOY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • An undergraduate Accounting Major in the Marilyn Davies College of Business
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester credit hours at UHD for each semester the scholarship is awarded
  • GPA of 3.00 or higher at UHD
  • Must show financial need
  • Must work part-time
  • Must be a person of great integrity as supported by a strong reference
  • May receive the scholarship more than once and may also accept other scholarships and grants.

E. DEANE KANALY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Scholarship prospect exhibits leadership qualities as determined by the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Scholarship applicant should be a declared major in the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Scholarship applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA in accordance with the standards set by the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the E. Deane Kanaly Scholarship.
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

ENBRIDGE BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Awarded to declared business majors
  • Must be a First Time in College (FTIC) student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Engaged with the MDCOB Career Center during the most recent Spring to Spring year (having attended a minimum of two career development events, including, but not limited to, career fairs, whether virtual or face-to-face)

ENRIQUE B. GARCIA SCHOLARSHIP

  • Scholarship applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FASFA accompanying the application.
  • Be a declared major in the Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 3.00 GPA overall.
  • Scholarship applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Scholarship recipient can receive the award and may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Enrique B. Garcia Scholarship.
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

ESTHER KAM ENGEL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours at UHD.
  • Applicant must be an IS (Information Systems) major or Minor.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 3.00 GPA overall.
  • Recipient may accept other scholarships and grants.

LASSO SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

TERRI LYNN DUNLAP SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Scholarship applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FASFA accompanying the application.
  • Scholarship applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester credit hours at UHD.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA or greater in accordance with the standards set by the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship recipient may receive the award more than once and may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Terri Dunlap Scholarship Award.
  • Preference is given to a student seeking a degree in supply chain management (major). If no qualified student is available in this concentration, then the award may be made available to other students in the Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses for a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

DR. MICHAEL FIELDS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Scholarship award is based on financial need and academic merit
  • Scholarship applicant should be a declared business major
  • Scholarship applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.25 GPA or greater in accordance with the standards set by the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Scholarship Committee
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with this scholarship up to the cost of attendance, which includes tuition, fees, books, room and board, transportation, and personal expenses
  • Scholarship is non-renewable and applicants must reapply

DELTRA W. HAYES SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Scholarship applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction withthis scholarship up to the cost of attendance, which includes tuition, fees books, room and board, transportation, and personal expenses.
  • Scholarship award is based on financial need and academic merit.
  • Scholarship award is non-renewable. Applicants must reapply.

MILITARY IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

  • Preferred scholarship applicants will be United States military (i.e., active, reserve, or veteran) and in good standing.
  • Preferred scholarship applicants will be employed while enrolled, and ideally working full-time.
  • Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled in nine (9) or more credit hours for undergraduates or six (6) or more credit hours for graduates and in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2 for undergraduates or 3.5 for graduates in accordance with the standards set by the College of Business Scholarship Committee.
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Military in Business Scholarship.
  • Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.

  • Scholarship award is non-renewable.

JUSTIN ALEJANDRO ORTIZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Enrolled as a full-time student in the Marilyn Davies College of Business.
  • Majoring in Marketing.

  • Applicant should write a brief statement describing how earning a degree will empower them to give back to the community.
