Important facts about Bacterial Meningitis
MV Hold: The MV hold in SOAHOLD no longer blocks registration. Students are able to register even if they have not received the shot or if the hold is active.
On-Campus Vaccinations: Students who receive a BMV on campus in Student Health Services will not be required to upload the shot record in the Magnus portal. This process will be completed for them behind the scenes. Also, since the on-campus vaccination is for UHD students only, students will not be given access to their vaccination document prior to the beginning of their first term at UHD. If a student is not planning to attend UHD, please do not refer them to UHD’s Health Services office for a BMV.
FAQs about Bacterial Meningitis and becoming a new student at UHD:
Are there any other options if I decline to take the vaccination?
- An affidavit or a certificate signed by a physician who is duly registered and licensed to practice medicine in the United States, in which it is stated that, in the physician's opinion, the vaccination required would be injurious to the health and well-being of the student.
- If you are declining the vaccination for reason of conscience objection, including a religious belief, you must request the
exemption form from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS). Once requested, the affidavit form will be mailed from TDSHS to you. All affidavit forms will be mailed via U. S. Postal Service within 7 to 10 business days.
