The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Student eligibility is assessed by the Division of Enrollment Management. UHD communicated to students, prioritizing students who completed a FAFSA and demonstrated financial need, encouraging them to apply for emergency funds via an online survey. Based on responses to the survey, students were selected to receive awards prioritized by Expected Family Contribution and enrollment. Awards were determined using defined amounts related to student needs in an equitable manner.
Supplemental funds were prioritized first to students who completed the FAFSA. Awards were based on EFC and enrollment. 2nd priority group were students with no FAFSA on file and enrolled. Award amounts were based on hours enrolled.
