VoiceThread is a cloud application that allows students to participate in conversations while looking at a multimedia items provided by the instructor, or by students. Instructors can upload, share and discuss documents, presentations, images, audio files, and videos. Instructor and students can then comment on the VoiceThread slides using one of the five commenting options: microphone, webcam, text, phone, and audio-file upload.
Why Use VoiceThread?
The Blackboard integration allows instructors to deploy VoiceThread items directly within a Blackboard content area. Instructors can also add or view VoiceThread items by login in directly to the VoiceThread page.
While Blackboard offers plenty of ways for students to submit their class homework and projects, such as discussions, assignment submissions, etc. VoiceThread offers a robust and interactive platform which allows for a variety of activities. It allows for students to submit their papers, PowerPoint presentations, audio or video presentations, and get feedback from the Instructor or their classmates through the various comment options available.
