Corporate Relations at the University of Houston-Downtown is a collaborative, year-round effort to connect UHD students, faculty, leadership and resources with Houston's dynamic business community.
The university provides businesses of all sizes with a central point of
contact to assist companies in navigating the university's numerous avenues for developing distinctive, effective partnerships.
Industry Expertise at UHD
Many UHD classes are taught by retired and current industry leaders, who serve as adjunct faculty or corporate fellows. These experts bring into the classroom contemporary, relevant approaches to academic coursework and pair that with a strong theoretical foundation, which prepares UHD students for success.
In addition, since 2013, a number of new and revised UHD graduate and undergraduate programs have been shaped through UHD's innovative Industry Curriculum Working Group model, which solicits industry involvement to develop programs to specifically address the competencies most needed in the workforce.
UHD Expertise in the Workforce
For many companies, a relationship with UHD will begin with identifying and recruiting talent for permanent hires or internships with the university's
Career Development Center or the
College of Business Career Center. Other companies may wish to augment their training, certification and professional development efforts through UHD's
Continuing Education programs. Whether it's bringing in new talent to shape the future of your company's workforce, or bolstering your current team, UHD can help provide great results.
Corporate Investments at UHD
Corporations also provide significant support for UHD students through contributions of resources, including
funds for scholarships, program and faculty support and capital improvements.
Additional investments, which may include sponsored, on campus volunteerism, student visits to corporate sites as well as in-kind donations, such as equipment, books and software may provide UHD students with valuable perspectives that may not be addressed in a typical academic environment.
