Job Summary

The Technology Librarian provides reference research assistance to students, faculty, and other affiliated patrons, and serves as a subject librarian and faculty liaison.

Duties

  • Maintains the hardware and software within the library, troubleshooting issues, installing programs, and working with IT as necessary to integrate new technology into the library
  • Examines and develops the user experience on the library's website, databases, and libguides; reviews accessibility, streamlines process, and removes any roadblocks that could hinder the user's experience
  • Assists with access issues, such as students not being able to use a particular database
  • Maintains and revises the library's webpage, creating additional webpages as needed; evaluates the web accessibility of the website and improves when possible
  • Assists with developing the library collection, through the selection and marketing of library resources; collects and regulates specific subjects within the library's collection, through purchasing new materials, working with faculty, and evaluating possible databases
  • Assists students, faculty, and patrons with research, coursework, and general reference questions

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field from a University accredited by the American Library Association.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Graphic Design is preferred

  • Basic knowledge of computer software

  • Copywriting and editing skills;

Abilities:

  • Ability to use and troubleshoot computers and other related hardware such as printers, scanners, and projectors;
  • Ability to operate within a budget; ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:
