Job Summary

The Financial Assistant III performs a variety of tasks to provide financial support to a department.

Duties

  • Performs a variety of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting and budgeting tasks
  • Prepares, processes, and approves vouchers, purchase requisitions, change orders, and travel vouchers; reconciles account cost centers
  • Completes cost center verifications
  • Collects and processes invoices, verifying them against the relevant purchase order
  • Assists with preparing budgets and financial projections
  • Provides administrative support to staff, including, but not limited to, coordinating travel arrangements, scheduling services, coordinating meetings, and answering calls and emails

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in Business, Communications, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience, including experience working in an accounting, budgeting, or purchasing function

License/Certification:

  • None required

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a variety of accounting practices and financial tasks, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices

Skills:

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Good organizational and time management skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community.

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements;
