Job Summary

The Electronic Resources Librarian coordinates the selection, licensing, acquisition, and activation of electronic resources and the receiving of physical resources and maintains related library systems to ensure that students and faculty have access to the resources they need for teaching and learning.

Duties

  • Coordinates with ordering work for subscriptions and services, including negotiating complex license agreements, in compliance with university policies and state laws
  • Coordinates receiving and activation work for resources in all formats, ensuring that library systems accurately reflect holdings and access rights so users can locate the required resources
  • Provides data, analysis, and recommendations to support selection and budgeting decisions
  • Daily supervises and leads a team of Library Assistants, assigning tasks and projects, communicating relevant information, and approving timesheets
  • Provides reference and instruction assistance in a variety of formats to the University community and members of the general public
  • Serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments, collecting materials that support coursework and building relationships with students and faculty through outreach work

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field from a University accredited by the American Library Association

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat are preferred

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of integrated library systems
  • Knowledge of current issues in acquiring, licensing, and managing access to electronic resources

Skills:

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community.

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office and library environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements;
  • Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
