Job Summary

The Director, Talent Search leads and manages a team to successfully implement a college and career readiness plan. The Director coordinates the execution of the plan with local school district administration and UHD personnel, and provides the required program services to ensure that participants achieve a minimum of six required program objectives.

Duties

  • Develops strategic leadership for the long-term operation, sustainability, and growth of the program.
  • Composes and executes strategies by using qualitative and quantitative evaluation measures to develop programming of the project to meet objectives.
  • Manages, supervises, and directs all day-to-day operational aspects of the program and ensures adherence to operational plans as outlined in the federal grant proposal, federal grant regulations, and compliance with university policies.
  • Creates, manages, and monitors annual and 5-year budgets in accordance with grant guidelines and amounts awarded.
  • Plans and executes programmatic initiatives by evaluating and selecting curriculum materials that support student success; approves plans to provide academic support (i.e., tutoring, mentoring, supplemental instruction, etc.).
  • Directly supervises full-time staff; indirectly supervises student workers and part-time employees; oversees all aspects of full-time staff management including professional development, staff selection, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversees the student selection process for the federal program to ensure that all selected participants meet program eligibility criteria; ensures that eligibility is properly documented and that files are maintained in confidential student files and reported to the U.S. Department of Education as required.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of operating a program in a higher education environment, and of the related trends, issues, and accepted practices

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and federal grant management systems
