Job Summary

The Director, Gator Success Center oversees all aspects of the Gator Success Center (GSC), serves as liaison with other student success and advising centers on campus, and assists enrollment management with new student orientation.

Duties

  • Works to improve retention rates of First Time in College (FTIC) students, including participating in orientation, communicating with new and returning students, tracking progress of students from entry to graduation, and assisting with resolving challenges faced by these students.
  • Supervises, trains, and communicates as necessary with staff members.
  • Monitors the early alert system sent by faculty; assists the Gator Success and Academic Advising Center staff as necessary to come to a successful resolution.
  • Communicates the importance and requirements of the Be on Time Grant for all FTIC students; advises students on how to get back on track for the grant and send send messages to students who have met the requirements.
  • Assists with programming for FTIC students.
  • Works with faculty as required to present to classes and to counsel or advise individual students.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Professional degree in Psychology, Human Development, Higher Education, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience, including experience within the higher education

License/Certification:

  • None required

  • Knowledge of student retention, success, and advising metrics and strategies, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices;

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks. Must have the ability to move items of up to 25lbs.
