Job Summary

The Associate Director, Academic Advising Center assists the Director in the management, control, evaluation, and decision-making for the Academic Advising Center and develops and administers program goals and objectives for specific program areas as may be assigned.

Duties

  • Provides leadership and oversight for the front desk staff and student workers of the Advising Center, ensuring that timely and culturally appropriate services are provided to students.
  • In collaboration with the Director of the Academic Advising Center, ensures that adequate staffing and other supports are provided for students at the center and at all scheduled events.
  • Assists with the development of academic resources and support for students.
  • Manages and maintains advising and retention activities.
  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders to implement proactive advising and retention initiatives.
  • Serves on various administrative committees and working groups as required.
  • Serves as a resource for success advisors concerning departmental programs and changes in degree requirements.
  • Maintains an advising caseload as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Advanced or Master's Degree

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of related job experience

License/Certification:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the functions of an advising center in a higher education environment, and of the associated trends, issues, and accepted practices.

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment.

Physical Demands:
