Scope of Responsibilities
At UHD, Mr. McCall is responsible for the Facilities Management Department, which is comprised of the five following major functional areas: Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Systems, Maintenance and Renovations, Contracted Services, Administration and Business Operations. He develops and directs all of the programs and personnel required for the planning, programming, construction, renovations, operation and maintenance of UHD grounds, parking lots and more than 1,400,000 square feet of facilities located on 24 acres. In addition to those responsibilities, he manages a budget of $6.5 million annually as well as Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) budgets of varying amounts. Mr. McCall also provisions campus utilities and acts as a University liaison with architects, engineers, contractors and local government entities.
Mr. McCall earned his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Texas A&M University. His certifications include: Association of Physical Plant Administrator (APPA) Education Facility Professional and International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Certified Facility Manager.
Christopher McCall has 27 years of experience at UHD in progressively responsible leadership positions prior to his current role as Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management. Those positions include Construction Inspector, Assistant Director and then Director of the Physical Plant and Director of Facilities. Additional experience at UHD includes work in Shipping, Receiving and Mail Services; Facilities inventory; Risk Management; Environmental Health and Safety; Vehicle Fleet management and Special Events coordination. Mr. McCall also worked as an Adjunct Instructor for seven years at Lone Star College in Kingwood. Prior to joining UHD, he worked in commercial construction and has experience in field engineering, estimating, project supervision and project management.
