Scope of Responsibilities
At UHD, Mr. Thomason responsibilities include assisting the Dean of Students with the daily operations of Student Life. He responds to, investigates and coordinates Title IX issues and assists in providing training for the University Appellate Board. Mr. Thomason also provides direct supervision of all Student Conduct processes as well as serving as Chair of the Behavior Intervention Team. He oversees the management of students who need intervention and/or threat assessment. He serves as University ombudsman for student complaints and concerns and oversees the management of student affairs contract services to include: Health Services, Counseling Services and Childcare Services.
Mr. Thomason earned his Master of Education in Educational Psychology/Counseling from the University of Houston and Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Houston. His certifications include: Title IX Investigator ATIXA, 2013; Advanced Title IX Investigator ATIXA, 2014 and Behavior Intervention Team NaBITA, 2013.
Tommy Thomason has more than 15 years of higher education experience at UH-Downtown. His professional experience includes work as: Student Conduct Officer/Title IX Coordinator, Campus Relations & Student Conduct Office/Title IX Coordinator, Assistant Vice President, Student Services, Dean of Students and Executive Director, Student Services, Discipline Officer.
