Scope of Responsibilities
At UHD, Dr. Smith directs the Office of Instructional Excellence in the College of Business. In her role she develops and implements programs in all modes of delivery that enhance teaching effectiveness of College faculty; identifies and plans relevant faculty development events; establishes teaching templates on a program and a college-wide basis; reviews student opinion surveys, programmatic assessment results and course assessment results as basis for continuous improvement of instruction in the College of Business. Dr. Smith also continually evaluates emerging best practices and determines applicability in the College of Business.
Dr. Smith earned her Doctor of Curriculum and Instruction from State University of New York at Albany, Masters of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in Education from Temple University and Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language Education from Middle East Technical University.
Dr. Smith's experience includes teaching undergraduate and graduate students at diverse higher education institutions for more than 18 years, including teaching online for 10 years. She also served as an assistant professor of ESL at Lamar University's teacher education program and has specialized experience in teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students.
