Scope of Responsibilities

As Program Director for Title V Pathways to Teaching Careers, Karen Palmer develops and maintains productive relationships with project partners, ensures the project achieves its objective on time and within budget, identifies challenges to progress and implements solutions and communicates with the funding agency on program progress and recommended revisions. She also directs program aspects of the Pathways to Teaching Careers grant and ensures programs, activities and expenditures are in compliance with federal, state, local, system and university requirements and procedures.

Educational Qualifications

Ms. Palmer earned her Master of Public Affairs and Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. 

Professional Experience​

Ms. Palmer has more than 20 years of experience in higher education with experience at Lone Star College as the Director of Resource Development, Grant Director and Writer as well as Academic and Workforce Advisor. Her experience also includes work as an Industrial and government Liaison, Publicity and Promotion Specialist and Proposal Development Specialist at higher education institutions in Illinois and Texas.
