Scope of Responsibilities
At UHD, Dr. Hudson is responsible for leading the Center that fosters a supportive and inclusive environment. He develops programs to promote diversity and social justice and assess outcomes related to recruitment and retention. Dr. Hudson plans and manages budgets related to diversity initiatives and obtains funding for programs, activities and initiatives. He advises Stand Out and other diversity-related student organizations. He cultivates partnerships with community agencies related to diversity and social justice advocacy. Dr. Hudson assists and implements diversity-related recruitment efforts as well as assists in policy development related to diversity.
Dr. Hudson earned his Doctor of Philosophy in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Master of Arts in English and Bachelor of Arts in American Studies both from the University of North Dakota. His certifications include: Certified Trainer-National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), 2014.
Dr. Hudson came to UHD in fall 2007 as an Assistant Professor and became involved in service activities to improve the campus climate for LGBTQ students. He developed the UHD Safe Zone Program to train volunteer faculty and staff to create a safer, more inclusive and more welcoming campus environment. Dr. Hudson serves as Chair of the UHD Diversity and Equity Advisory Council. He also oversees the Office of International and Study Abroad Programs.
