Scope of Responsibilities

At UHD, Ms. Pearson is responsible for providing leadership and strategic oversight for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and manages approximately $75 million of the institutional operating budget.  She develops and analyzes operating budgets for division senior leadership and prepares financial plans for 1-3 year strategic initiatives.  Ms. Pearson also provides oversight for administrative operations to include human resources and financial administration to ensure compliance and internal controls related to policies and procedures.  She works in collaboration with faculty hiring to include salary market benchmarks, faculty credentials and maintaining tenure records. In addition, Ms. Pearson provides oversight to the Office of the Provost, Continuing Education, Student Life, Enrollment Management, Library, College of Business, College of Sciences and Technology, College of Public Service, College of Humanities and Social Sciences University College.

Educational Qualifications

Ms. Pearson earned her Master of Business Administration in Management from Texas Woman's University, Master of Education in Education Technology from the University of Phoenix and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Technology from the University of Houston. Her certifications include: Research Administration and Contract Systems Acquisition.​

Professional Experience

Ms. Pearson is an experienced administrator with over 30 years in higher education administration. She has strong leadership skills, strategic collegial decision-making and a keen understanding of current issues and future trends in higher education. Ms. Pearson has working knowledge of institutional strategy planning, higher education business best practices, academic achievement and strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as experience in leading organizations through change management.
