UHD Seminars - Which one and why?

Who takes the Freshman Seminars?​​

 New FTIC's should be required to take one of the Freshman Seminars: UHD 1301-1308 (the last digit corresponds to the core component area in which the seminar is based).

  • All New FTIC Freshman should take a Freshman Seminar.
  • Transfers who have completed less than 30 hours.
  • Transfers who have not completed ENG 1301.
  • Transfers above who have not completed the 090 area.
​WHO TAKES THE UNIVER​SITY SEMINARS?​​​
  • ​​Students who are not core complete in the 090 area.
  • New Transfers who should take the University Seminars (UHD 2301-2308)
  • 1. Transfers who have completed ENG 1301 & completed more than 30 hours
    &
    2. who have not completed the 090 component area (6 hours in 090, 3 hours 011 + 3 hours 090, or 4 hours 090 from two courses).

Freshman Seminars explore themes that relate to your interests or major.​

Freshman Seminars prepare you for academic success by teaching you helpful learning strategies.​

Entering Freshmen take Freshman Seminars in their first semester at UHD to introduce them to the UHD community and the intellectual life of the university.

WHY SHOULD I ENROLL IN A UNIVERSITY SEMINAR?

The University Seminars explore themes that are of interest to your major.

Transfer students are required to take a University Seminar their first semester to transition them into the intellectual life of the university and introduce them to the UHD community.

Study a current topic in your major or area of study with UHD faculty experts.

Study cutting edge scholarship in your major field of interest, while enhancing your research and problem-solving skills.​​

Clarify your major and career choices.
