Yazmin Trujillo is a first-generation college graduate and first-generation American, born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in Spring 2017. As an undergrad, she was part of the UHD Powerlifting team in which she competed at regional and national competitions and was the team vice president for a year. She began working on campus as a Supplemental Instruction Leader in Spring 2015, which contributed to her decision of becoming a teacher. Yazmin is currently a graduate student seeking a Master of Arts in Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction with an area of expertise in teaching secondary mathematics, including graduate mathematics hours to teach dual-credit mathematics.
