Application to the Teacher Education Program

As of September 17, 2018, there is an application fee of $35 to apply for your teacher candidacy. You will need to go to the Cashier's Office and pay your application fee.

The Urban Education Teacher Candidacy application window is from March 6 to April 10.

Prior to applying for your Professional Development (PD) Sequence, the following requirements, according to your declaration date, must be met:

Introduction to Teacher Candidacy (PDI) SPRING 2020 Interview Dates
April 15-17, 2020

Students who declared after 1 September 2016
  • Must have a grade of C or better in ENG 1301, ENG 1302, MATH 1301, Life & Physical Science and American History components
Students who declared after 1 September 2017
  • Must be within the last 12 hours of completion of Academic and Preparatory Major classes before applying for your PDs
Students who declared after 1 September 2018
  • Must take and pass all TExES certification exams before submission of student teaching (PDIV) application (See the new PDI, PDII, PDIII, PDIV sequence)
  • Must apply for ITC (PDI) within the last 12 hours of completion of Academic and Preparatory Major classes
Application Fee Statement: 
There is an application fee of $35 to apply for your teacher candidacy. Using the link below, you can pay your application fee to the Cashier's Office in person or via fax using the Student Credit Card Authorization Form.  All applicants will need to upload a receipt from the Cashier's Office with your application before final submission. Please note there is NO REFUND given for this application fee for any reason. If you reapply for teacher candidacy, you must pay the $35 application fee again.Download the application fee instructions.

Instructions for Completing the Urban Education Application for Teacher Candidacy in Tk20/WatermarkTM

  1. Review the Urban Education Student Application video
    • Log into Tk20/WatermarkTM at using your UHD Username and Password Password (For example, would log in with the user name: doej and password).
    • Hint: Never Use the Back Button.
  3. Select Applications from the menu on the left.
  4. Select the green tab toward the middle of the page titled: Create New Application
  5. Select UE Application for Teacher Candidacy for the semester you plan to enter teacher candidacy (ex. UE Application for Teacher Candidacy Fall_2020).
  6. Next, complete the application as directed. Note: Items with the (*) are required fields. 
  7. Once you reach the bottom of the screen, you will see several options:
    • SAVE: Return Later
    • CLOSE: Exit and withdraw your application
    • SUBMIT: Send your application for official review
    • PREV: Return to previous page
    • NEXT: Button inactive
  8. When your application is ready, enter your initials and click Submit to send your application for official review.
